About the Local Author Fair

The Local Author Fair is held every other year during the November First Friday. It is an opportunity for our local authors to share their books with our community and for our community to shop local and support local writers.

Our next Local Author Fair will be November 7, 2025.

Author registrations for the 2025 Local Author Fair will open on September 1, 2025, and end September 30, 2025, at this link:

  • November 2, 2029
  • November 7, 2031

Information For Local Authors:

Are you a local author interested in sharing your work with our community? Our Local Author Fair is typically held during our First Friday events every other November from 5:30-8 p.m. We welcome local authors who write for any age group: adult, children, or teen, and in various genres, including fiction, poetry, and non-fiction.

The purpose of the event is to introduce readers to local authors and to give local authors a forum for signing and selling their books.

To participate, you must apply for a table no later than September 30 the year of the event. All books included in the Local Author Fair must meet the standards set by our Collection Development and Public Programming policies.

How the Local Author Fair Works:

The Library will provide:

  • A standard six-foot long table and two chairs
  • Marketing for the Local Author Fair Event (Please note, we market the event but are not able to provide marketing for individual participating authors. Participating authors are welcome to promote their participation in the event on their social media, website, or marketing outlet of their choice.)

Authors will need to provide:

  • Books to sell
  • Anything needed for book sales, including money box, receipts, and change
  • Pamphlets, bookmarks, or other contact information
  • Decorations for tables and a table covering (optional)
  • Book easels or display equipment (if needed)

Book Sales:

  • All sales will be made by the authors.
  • Any taxes will be the responsibility of the authors.

Authors Wanting to Book a Signing Event

Authors interested in booking their own signing event are welcome to schedule one of our meeting rooms for their signing. Because this is not a library-sponsored event, the author is responsible for marketing and sales. Authors who have booked our meeting rooms for signing events in the past have marketed their signing through social media and the local newspapers. To book a meeting room for your signing, contact the library location where you would like to hold your event or visit our website: https://www.khcpl.org/reserve
