Reference Librarian

We are looking for someone who wants to help our community become its best by providing helpful, friendly, and hospitable services within the library and the public we serve. Some of the duties include using readers’ advisory tools to foster a love of reading and knowledge, planning and hosting events and programs, and assisting all our patrons in their quest for information and entertainment. If you are creative and yearn to engage with all people and you absolutely embody the ideal of hospitality, then we want you to apply. Requirements include: MLS or MSLA from ALA accredited school; a valid Indiana driver’s license, or the ability to attain one; current Indiana Public Library certification, or the ability to attain one, level 3 or higher. The position is 36 hrs/wk. Hours include some evening and weekends. Benefits include Health, vision and dental insurance, as well as retirement. Great leave time included. Genealogy Assistant Main

20 hrs/week, $12.40/hr. The position comes with annual, sick and holiday pay. It includes weekends and evenings. 2 years of college or equivalent required. We are looking for a friendly, flexible individual whose primary duties will include engaging with patrons and employees to help with resources available, work with library databases and subscriptions, and process and maintain materials. Page and Clerical Positions:

Applications for library page and clerical positions are accepted at all times, even when there are no openings, and are kept active for six months. An application may be filled out at any library location, or Apply Online.

Library Page: Part-time. Starting wage is $8.48 / hour. Days and hours of work vary. In most page positions, the primary responsibility is shelving books. Other duties might include shelf reading, locating materials, affixing labels on new materials, covering paperbacks, filing, and occasionally assisting patrons.

Library Clerk: Part-time. Starting wage is $10.90 / hour. Days and hours of work vary. Clerks perform tasks in many library departments. Duties range from processing new library materials, library card registration, collecting library fines and assisting patrons with checking out.

Pre-Employment Screening Requirements:

KHCPL has a vital interest in maintaining safe, legal and efficient working conditions for its employees and patrons.
