Head of Human Resources

Our Head of Human Resources will need to work with other team members to enrich and bolster the most valuable asset within the library: our employees. If you enjoy working with and understanding individuals, while helping them to become their best selves, then we have an opportunity for you. The position will help assist with hiring, training, and maintaining our workforce, as well as our varied volunteer base. The position is 32 hrs/wk and may occasionally include after-hours work when emergency issues arise. Starting salary for the position is $22.14/hr. This position will include annual, sick and holiday benefits. Education and experience needed: Bachelor’s degree required; coursework, experience and/or certification in Human Resources preferred. Candidates must have a valid Indiana’s driver’s license, or the ability to attain one.

Children's Outreach Librarian

The Kokomo-Howard County Public Library is seeking someone who loves to engage with the public through innovative programming. Our Children’s Outreach Librarian will plan, oversee, and practice programming both in and out of the library walls, and will provide opportunities for youth of all ages to learn and grow. Requirements include: MLS or MLIS from ALA accredited school; a valid Indiana driver’s license, or the ability to attain one; current Indiana Public Library certification, or the ability to attain one, level 3 or higher. The position is 36 hours a week and includes some evenings and weekends. Benefits include Health, vision and dental insurance, as well as retirement. Great leave time included. Entry-level salary starts at $19.43/hr. If you are interested. We will begin reviewing applicants immediately and hope to have someone hired in July.

Page and Clerical Positions:

Applications for library page and clerical positions are accepted at all times, even when there are no openings, and are kept active for six months. An application may be filled out at any library location, or Apply Online.

Library Page: Part-time. Starting wage is $8.82 / hour. Days and hours of work vary. In most page positions, the primary responsibility is shelving books. Other duties might include shelf reading, locating materials, affixing labels on new materials, covering paperbacks, filing, and occasionally assisting patrons.

Library Clerk: Part-time. Starting wage is $10.90 / hour. Days and hours of work vary. Clerks perform tasks in many library departments. Duties range from processing new library materials, library card registration, collecting library fines and assisting patrons with checking out.
