Head of Children’s Services

Would you like to help a library fulfill its vision of becoming a vital part of an engaged and thriving community? The Kokomo-Howard County Public Library is looking for a Head of Children’s Services to work with us in creating opportunities for our library and our community. If you want to work with children and educators to make a difference and to provide equal, valued learning opportunities, then you could be the leader we are looking for at KHCPL. Some things you will be responsible for: provide daily operation support of the Children’s Department, coordinate children’s programming and activities within the department and system-wide, and be part of a leadership team which is collectively responsible for achieving common objectives for the library.

Qualifications are an accredited MLIS or equivalent, Indiana State certification LC3 or higher, and at least three years relevant experience as a supervisor. Candidates must also have a valid Indiana driver’s license, or the ability to obtain one by their date of hire. Starting pay for the position is $22.96 an hour. This is an exempt, full-time position that requires at least 40 hours a week, and will sometimes include evening or weekend hours to fulfill programming obligations. We offer 9 paid holidays, generous leave time, flexible hours, and insurance benefits. Custodian

KHCPL is seeking a Custodian. There is a part-time (20 hours/week) position available. The position will include annual, sick and holiday benefits. Will include evenings and weekends. The rate starts at $11.75/hour (Level 8). Requirements are a high school diploma or equivalent, 1 year relevant experience, and a valid driver’s license. The primary responsibilities are opening/closing the library, floor care, cleaning, stocking vending machines, and courier duties.

Page and Clerical Positions:

Applications for library page and clerical positions are accepted at all times, even when there are no openings, and are kept active for six months. An application may be filled out at any library location, or Apply Online.

Library Page: Part-time. Starting wage is $8.03 / hour. Days and hours of work vary. In most page positions, the primary responsibility is shelving books. Other duties might include shelf reading, locating materials, affixing labels on new materials, covering paperbacks, filing, and occasionally assisting patrons.

Library Clerk: Part-time. Starting wage is $10.32 / hour. Days and hours of work vary. Clerks perform tasks in many library departments. Duties range from processing new library materials, library card registration, collecting library fines and assisting patrons with checking out.
