Customer and Readers' Services Coordinator

You love telling people what you’re reading, and get a silent thrill when you get that reluctant reader to pick up a book and actually like it. And you believe it’s important to coach support staff to do the same, and treat circulation points as a means for public service, not just a place to check materials in and out. If you want to make the written word enticing and visible to patrons, and can advocate for books and reading while also encouraging and supporting staff to do the same, then we need you to apply for our Customer and Readers’ Services Coordinator position. You would be part of a library that has been one of a few libraries to host an ALA exhibit, brought community awareness to important issues like the importance of pollinators, exclusively hosted socially relevant street art in a public library, and won community awards as an important, vital part of the community growth. We encourage our staff to think big and give us unique ideas, and we are not afraid to say “go for it.” This is a full-time position with benefits, which includes generous leave. This position will coordinate readers’ advisory, train staff system-wide, and also supervise and coach the Main Circulation Department. We are looking for someone approachable, customer focused, and flexible. You must have Indiana library certification of at least L4 and a valid Indiana Driver’s license, or the ability to obtain one. Ideal candidates will have an MLIS or equivalent from an accredited school and some supervisory experience. The position will occasionally need to work evenings and weekends to fill desk coverage and participate in programming. Pay starts at $20.17 an hour and is an exempt position. If interested, email Aaron Smith at asmith@khcpl.org with a cover letter and resume. We will begin reviewing candidates by September 15

Information Services Assistant

This person will provide customer service, computer assistance, reference services, and help the library by participating in programming and on committees to help fulfill the mission of the library to “create opportunities for our community to become its best.” This is a 20 hour/wk position and includes regular evening and weekend hours. Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma and some college courses, as well as experience serving the public. This position qualifies for Annual Leave time provided by the library. Pay starts at $13.50/hour. If interested, or to see a full job description, look for this ad on our Job Opportunities page at www.khcpl.org/job-openings.
