Computer Classes

Computer classes are offered free of charge to the public in our computer lab, in the basement of the Main Library. Most classes are taught on Saturday mornings and last approximately two hours. Registration is required, and can be completed by calling the Library at 765.457.3242 or by filling out the online form below.

Computer Basics

What is a computer? How does it work? How do I use one or even turn it on? If you have been wondering about these questions our 'Computer Basics' class is just right for you. You will learn what makes up a personal computer and why they do the things they do. You will also be able to learn how to use a mouse and the basic elements of the Microsoft Windows operating system.

Introduction to the Internet
Learn the basics of "surfing the net." Students will learn how to use the Internet Explorer browser and be introduced to a few search engines and their functions. Students should be familiar with Windows and know how to operate a mouse. A mouse tutorial is available on the lab computers for those who need to learn or practice before taking this class.

Excel is one of the most powerful programs around, but getting started can be a bit of a daunting task. What do I do with all these boxes? will examine this question and give you the basics you need to start creating useful documents in Microsoft Excel.

Intermediate Microsoft Excel 2007
Practical Practice will review the basics functions of Excel and begin working on creating actual documents that will be useful in your home or office. A basic understanding of Excel, which can be gained in the class the previous week or from previous experience using Excel, will be assumed, although many of the basics will be briefly reviewed, so have no fear!
