Scaling Your Brick Walls
Tuesdays, September 9th - October 14th (six weeks) : 6:00 - 9:00 p.m. at KHCPL Main
The intermediate genealogy class “Scaling Your Brick Walls” will be held in the Community Room at KHCPL Main. The course fee, which includes materials, is $25. Registration is required since class size is limited. Please register in the Genealogy & Local History Department beginning August 9.
Genealogy & Local History's Annual Silent Auction 2008
Wednesday, October 1st - Friday, October 31st at KHCPL Main
Items offered at the annual Silent Auction include older area high school yearbooks, city and county directories, and a wide range of genealogical books and CD’s. Most items will have a bid minimum. In a silent auction, written bids are placed, then opened at the end of the bidding period. The highest bid gets the item! Books and materials, bidding guidelines, and forms are available in the Genealogy & Local History Department and will be posted on the website www.KHCPL.org/glhs/ starting October 1. DAR Workshop
Saturday, October 18th : 10:00 a.m. to Noon at KHCPL Main
Members of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) will provide information on the application process for joining the DAR. This volunteer service organization is nonpolitical and is dedicated to promoting patriotism, preserving American history, and securing America’s future through better education for children. Genealogy for Night Owls
Friday, October 24th : 5:30 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. at KHCPL Main
Attend the twenty-fifth “Genealogy for Night Owls,” an after-hours research evening for experienced genealogists. The fee is $12 for Howard County Genealogical Society members, $14 for nonmembers, and includes a buffet dinner and door prizes. Space is limited. Register in the Genealogy & Local History Department beginning September 24.
Research Trip to Ft. Wayne
Saturday, November 8th : 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
The Genealogy & Local History Department will sponsor an all-day research trip to The Genealogy Center at the Allen County Public Library. Participants will carpool and the group will stop at a restaurant in Fort Wayne before returning to Kokomo. For required registration, call 765.457.3242 beginning October 8. A transportation fee will be assessed.
Genealogy On The Internet Workshop
Thursday, November 20th : 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at KHCPL Main Computer Lab
Learn how to research genealogy on the Internet at a special computer class. Call the Computer Lab at KHCPL Main for required registration, 765.457.3242.
