Long Term Lovers of Howard County

Joseph P. and Margaret M. (McArdle) Hillman : 56 Years
Married May 14th, 1923

Joseph and Margaret met while working at Kingston Products, and were married at St. Patrick's Rectory on May 14, 1923. They started housekeeping with $50.00, which was quite a sum nearly 80 years ago. They were both multi-talented individuals. Joseph could build and repair anything from motors to houses, and often repaired small electrical appliances. He was also a good cook! Margaret could sew, crochet, knit, and was an outstanding cook and homemaker. Both worked in various factories. Margaret retired from Chrysler Corporation in 1963; Joseph retired from Steel Parts in Tipton in 1970. They kept busy with work and raising their 7 children, including Julia (Judy), Paul, and Ronald W. Hillman, all of Kokomo, 8 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren.
