Dave Heflin was born in Lebanon, Indiana, but moved to Kokomo as a boy. He graduated from Kokomo H.S. in 1939, and was an airplane mechanic in the Army Air Corp. during WWII. After the war, he married Regina Dumoulin in Dayton, Ohio, on April 27, 1946. The couple returned to Kokomo, where Dave worked at Haynes Stellite, Kokomo Tube, and for the Izaak Walton League. They had 5 daughters and 3 sons: Cynthia L. (Mrs. Dennis) Stover, Sharon K. Clark, Thomas D. Heflin, Robin L. Heflin, and William R. Heflin, all of Kokomo; Donna D. (Mrs. William) Hale, of Tavares, Florida; Theresa A. (Mrs. Mark) Shea, of Feeding Hill, Massachusetts; and Susan E. Heflin, of Leesburg, Florida. They also have 15 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. They retired to Tavares, Florida, where Dave died in 2000.
