Merrell, a native of Roachdale, Indiana, and Esther were married at Esther's home in Russiaville on April Fool's Day (Esther thinks this must mean something), April 1, 1945. They were so proud of their wedding cake, they tried to take it with them! Merrell worked at Murray-Davis Auto Parts, Chrysler, and retired from the Kokomo Glass Shop. He was a member of Main St. United Methodist Church for 56 years, and was the church's head noodle maker for all bazaars and special events. He and Esther have 2 sons: Neil R. Hart, of Russiaville, and Lawrence G. Hart, of Maple Grove, Minnesota, and 5 grandchildren.
The secret of a successful marriage: "In every marriage there will be some long days, but the years fly by. Enjoy the days and each other."
