George Etherington was born in western Howard County on Nov. 18, 1881. He married Adaline, who was from Ford County, Illinois, in Watseka, Illinois, on May 22, 1906. They lived their entire married life on the same farm in the West Middleton area. George was a charter member of the Howard County Farm Bureau. Both he and Adaline were members of the West Middleton United Methodist Church. They were the parents of 7 sons: Glenn, who is also featured in this display, Russell, Paul, John L., Francis, George and Babe. They also had 11 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great grandchildren at the time of George's death in 1984. He was three weeks shy of celebrating his 103rd birthday. Both he and Adaline are buried in Sunset Memory Gardens.
