Candy (Schick) Jones has been a volunteer in Genealogy and Local History since the "Indiana Room" started having volunteers. In those days the department was staffed by volunteers only. The room was only open when there was a volunteer present.
Candy helped to form a local support group, a state-wide coalition and lobbied for changes in the Indiana adoption laws. She is still co-director of the Indiana Adoption Coalition.
Candy is married, the mother of four, stepmother of five, and aunt and legal guardian for three. She has 15 grandchildren. All of Dick and Candy's children and grandchildren are in other states. That means they travel a lot.
She also serves as a Confidential Intermediary for the state of Indiana dealing with adoption searches.
Candy's roots reach from Howard County to the first families to come to and settle in this country.
Candy's areas of expertise are Indiana adoptions and Middle Tennessee research. She also enjoys newspaper research, since is is always interesting and one gets lost reading the old newspapers. Candy also enjoys planning programs. |
