Adult Collections
The Adult & Teen Department has a vast collection of materials for research and entertainment. Our collection includes over 82,000 books. Some subject areas for books are fiction, Christian, mystery, science fiction, and western, as well as books for adults who are learning to read, books and magazines written in Spanish, reference materials and business, travel and consumer research material, and phone books.
Our collection of audiovisual materials includes both music and audio books on cassette, compact disc and CD-ROM. The Library carries DVDs and videos, too, from instructional to classics to box office hits.
Over 250 titles of magazines, as well as newspapers and pamphlets on a variety of topics, can be found in the Adult & Teen Department. Many magazines are available for patrons to borrow and enjoy in their own homes.
Jr. High and Teen Collections
"Teen Scene" is where Jr. High and teen fiction books, magazines, audio CDs and cassettes, and graphic novels are located.
Materials for the Visually Impaired
Special attention is given to providing materials for those who are visually impaired. Some of the items available in the Adult & Teen Department are large print books and magazines, talking Books (books on audiocassette) through the Indiana State Library, and descriptive videos that have a narrator describing the action. We also have a large collection of audiobooks on cassettes and CDs.
Interlibrary Loans
If we don't have a particular book or library item that you want, it is very likely that we can borrow if for you from another library. This is a free service. In 2002 we received over 1,700 requests from our patrons, and we were successful at retrieving over 1,300 items. We can obtain books, magazine articles, and other materials. Ask us in the Library, by phone at 765.454.4710 or through our online ILLiad Interlibrary Loan System.
Reference Services
Whether you're looking for the latest best seller, an illusive fact, the price of a used car, or research on a particular subject, we can assist you in your search. Librarians are available whenever the library is open to answer questions and provide assistance. In addition to answering questions for people who come into the Library, librarians also answer telephone reference questions at 765.454.4710 and through email.
